Everything seems to be being rebooted at the moment, Batman, James Bond, Battlestar Gallactica, now prepare yourself for the reboot of Freeplay. It’s still all about the gaming you can do for free but we got Pete (Xero), Dan, (FrostieD), Sam (Marconi) and myself (Balaenidae) all together to talk about it.
This week we take a look at the demos for:
- Modnation Racers (beta) [PS3]
- Soul [360]
And discuss the Freeplay game of the month: Grand Theft Auto
If you wish to download Grand Theft Auto for free just go to this page and sign up.

Great listen, guys. When you were talking about GTA, you mentioned there was no map. When I played the original on PSX, you got a big fold-out map in the box, I used to sit with it on the floor in front of the TV, and if I had a bad wanted rating, I’d get a bit angry, pause, figure out where I was on the map, by district names if I recall, then find the closest respray garage in radial sweeps. Then trace the roads to find the best route and then ultimately fail at following it due to shitty memory. Thinking about it, this seems like fairly strange activity for a ten year-old.
Whilst it’s true the original PSX version did come with a map, we were discussing the free version available on the Rockstar website. The game plays in full screen so you could set up another computer or print out a map, but I think that’s probably overkill, and hey, I think we all got a bit OCD about our gaming when we were 10 year olds, that’s why we’re here!
